CLARY SAGE
salvia sclerea
a key word when we consider Clary Sage is
R E G E N E R A T I O N
a plant of cycles . . . Clary Sage brings us the knowledge of CYCLES . . . and RESILIENCY within cyclical changes. The sage plant itself can RE-CREATE itself after being cut down even to just a few branches or being very dry.
Clary Sage is a biennial or perennial herb that grows up to six feet in height. Clary Sage essential oil is known for its calming, balancing and regenerative properties. The main chemical component of Clary Sage oil is linalyl acetate, part of the esters group, making it one of the most relaxing, soothing, and balancing essential oils. Inhaling Clary Sage essential oil adds to a relaxing environment, and internal use promotes a restful night’s sleep.
Clary sage is steam-distilled from the flowers and “aerials” (leaves just near the flowers) of the plant. The beautiful flowering herb grows wild in many areas of the Mediterranean region. As a wild plant, it is becoming more rare due to over development of meadows, grass and herb lands. She has been used by medicine people in Europe since the middle ages for helping to create soothing and balancing plant medicine . . . especially around hormonal balance, skin and rest. Remember, skin is one of our most important links to the endocrine system (glands and hormones) . . . and clary sage is well absorbed with a carrier oil thorough the skin.
Clary Sage is herbaceous and sweet . . .
sometimes very strong and full . . . blends well with:
Bergamot
(for relaxing the nerves and soft tissue)
Roman Chamomile
(for relaxing the mind - try it in a bath.)
Cypress
(for lymphatic circulation)
Geranium
(two great oils for women and the 2nd chakra)
Grapefruit
Lavender
Lime
(this one is really surprising and refreshing and astringent)
Patchouli
Rose
Sandalwood
Frankincense + Orange
Clary sage flowers and leaves have been used for centuries in helping with dream recall.
We all dream, every night! This is a natural way for our psyche to help maintain its own balance. However, sometimes we dont remember the dreams. If you have a longing to remember your dreams . . . and work with them as clear and accurate window to your inner life . . . try making some “DREAM DROPS” with the following recipe:
DREAM DROPS
In a 10 ml rollerball:
20 drops Clary Sage EO
10 drops Mugwort EO (artemisia vulgaris)
6 drops Juniper Berry
2 drops lavender
and fill the rest with a neutral carrier oil . . . fractionated coconut oil or grapeseed oil.
Roll on the soles of your feet . . . or like a smile from hip bone to hip bone, massage in a little bit before sleep.
Remember to keep a notepad and pen by your bedside, so you can jot down the highlights of what you remember about your dreams immediately upon waking. Then you can go back . . . and go more in-depth with the deeper meaning and understanding of that dream when you have time.
Sweet Dreams!
For soothing inflamed skin and acne . . . make a cleansing paste of:

3 Tablespoons Raw Honey
1 Tablespoon Apple Cider Vinegar
1 capsule pro-biotic (take out of the capsule)
Blend all together into a paste . . . keep in the refrigerator and use a little every day to cleanse and purify the skin.
